Issues Set Up the Nighthawk AX1800 WiFi Extender With the Netgear App

Both the Nighthawk app and the web interface can be used to install a Nighthawk AX1800 extender. However, clients could face problems setting them on the app. When the extender was previously effective at one site and the user is unable to set it up at another, the issue turns much more annoying.

Follow these instructions if you have any issue setting up your Nighthawk AX1800 WiFi extender using the Netgear app. In this section, we look at possible roots of the issue as well as simple solutions.

Common Reasons: Nighthawk App Setup Issues with AX1800

The following factors may have lead to your inability to install the Nighthawk AX1800 range extender, even after using the most latest version of the Netgear app:

  • There is an excess distance between your router and your extender.
  • You enter the router’s WiFi information incorrectly.
  • On using the default settings, the extender can not run.

Fixes for Netgear AX1800 Nighthawk App Setup Issues

Now that you are aware of the causes of the issue, it’s time to find out the solutions that can assist you in solving it. However, confirm that your phone is linked to the Netgear_EXT network first.

Maintain the Proper Extender-Router Gap

Your Netgear extender and the main gateway (router) should ideally be 8–10 metres apart. You may have kept your technology too far away. You should close the gap in order to solve the issue. However, keep in mind that the gap must be acceptable. Setting it to zero may cause both devices’ WiFi transfers to compete.

Factory Reset the Extender

  • Verify that your extender  cable is connected.
  • Now locate the Reset button.
  • Using an oil pin, press the button and hold it there for seven to ten seconds.
  • It will reset the extender.

Note:

You need to try to configure your Netgear AX1800 extender again using the Nighthawk mobile app as soon as it resets. However, when you reset the extender, be sure that you connect it to the Netgear_EXT, the extender’s default WiFi network. Otherwise, any of your attempts will still fail.
